Root Canal Therapy

One of the most prominent procedures practiced by dentists is the root canal treatment. Did you know that each tooth contains a long, thin strand of dental pulp that provides the tooth with nutrients and nerves and extends through the tooth’s root? If the pulp becomes infected or injured, the tooth’s nerves die, often without endodontic treatment. In this case the tooth would have to be removed. Root canals are designed to save such damaged teeth. During the procedure (after the tooth is numb), the diseased pulp is removed.¬†After root canal treatment is complete, your restorative dentist will usually place a crown on your tooth to safeguard against fracture.
