Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP)

Over 50% of Americans have gum disease. Gum disease is linked with several systemic conditions such as heart disease, stroke, Alzheimers, and diabetes. Traditional treatment for advanced gum disease involves cutting the gums or extracting teeth.

Generally, patients undergoing this procedure experience less discomfort, faster healing times, and more predictable results compared to traditional gum surgery. The LANAP protocol uses the MVP-7 PerioLase ® to selectively remove bacteria that causes gum disease, while leaving healthy tissue intact. LANAP is a patented periodontal treatment cleared by the FDA in 2004.

In this procedure, a tiny fiber the size of 3 human hairs is inserted between the gums and tooth, where it removes bacteria without causing harm to healthy tissue. Patients can expect to go back to work and resume daily activities the next day.

In addition to LANAP, the Periolase can be used for several other treatments such as stabilizing loose implants, cold sores, and canker sores.
